I have to give Mary Cat a well done on her sermon today. She appropriately answered the question, "why did you decide to...." by allowing God to lead her, through the opening of her heart, mind, body, and soul to God (I am putting words into her mouth again). Let us pray that her discernment process never ends. (see link in title). It was also a perfect time for us to renew our Baptismal vows. I don't know about you, but I was ready to be immersed.
The discernment process checklist was really interesting. And renewing one's baptismal vows is always a time for serious thought and a re-focusing on those things which are most important. I could live without the immersion but must admit to a very heavy sprinkling while returning to the car. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteOnce again, Mary Kat gave a sermon that was praiseworthy for both its content and its brevity; this is clearly a priest who knows the meaning of the word "homily." I enjoyed her explanation of the difference between deciding to be a priest and being called to be a priest; like Pewster, I hope her discernment never ends. The renewal of our personal baptism vows was especially nice for some of us who were seated among sleeping babies; nice to know that they will soon be baptized, probably with Mary Kat in attendance:). The whole service today seemed to have a gentle, loving air to it....I always miss the choir when it is not there, but it was a nice Sunday.
