Why Can't We All Be Friends?
Jesus commands us to love our enemies. History has shown that this is one of the more difficult things do which leads me to ponder the problem of antisemitism.
Antisemitism is nothing new, so you would think that we had all the reasons for it figured out by now and would have come up with working solutions for the problem.
First you have to be able to recognize it as a problem which is impossible if you are taught antisemitism as part of your religion.
Christianity seems to have solved their issues for the most part, but when it comes to Islam, antisemitism will never, never go away because it is built in to their texts. Just read the quotes in this article from Christian Concern.
Given the systematic antisemitism in Islam, it amazed me that exit polling in New York City's recent mayoral election showed that 33% of Jewish voters chose Zohran Mamdani.
Would they have voted for a charismatic Klansman?
You can't fix stupid.
So, will there ever be peace in the Middle East? I think not until the second coming of Christ.
Will we ever be one big happy family?
Tom Lehrer put it best when he lampooned "National Brotherhood Week" way back when.
[Verse 1]
Oh, the white folks hate the black folks
And the black folks hate the white folks
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule (But during)
National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week
Lena Horne and Sheriff Clark are dancing cheek to cheek
It's fun to eulogize the people you despise
As long you don't let them in your school
[Verse 2]
Oh, the poor folks, hate the rich folks
And the rich folks hate the poor folks
All of my folks hate all of your folks
It's American as apple pie (But during)
National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week
New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans cause it's very chic
Step up and shake the hand of someone you can't stand
You can tolerate him if you try
[Verse 3]
Oh the Protestants hate the Catholics
And the Catholics hate the Protestants
And the Hindus hate the Muslims
And everybody hates the Jews (But during)
National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week
It's National Everyone-Smile-At-One-Another-Hood Week
I'm a passionate Christian, fiercely devoted to Jesus Christ and his Church. I am willing to labor long hours in the Lord’s vineyard, and I have little patience with those who are less willing or able to work as I do. My passions often carry me into temptation zones of wrath, lust, and pride.
