March Madness, March Sadness

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Giuseppe Arcimboldo, the original flower child, (1527-1593) "Spring" (1573)

Now that is what I call "Wearing o' the Green."

I guess we all run wild some times. Arcimboldo was not limited to painting broccoli. He did some serious stuff too. Wikipedia presents a photo of this stained glass window in the Milan Cathedral which is attributed to Arcimboldo/Arcimboldi.

Finally, an update on Spring in Rock Hill...

March Sadness: Winthrop 44 - Arkansas Pine Bluff 61

(photo taken 03/14/2010 by U.P.)

  1. Had Winthrop ever made it to the tourney before?

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best time of the year. The Thursday and Friday of the first week of the Tournament should be national holidays.

  2. An aside: Arcimboldo's painting "Water" adorned the cover of Kansas' 1975 album Masque. Loved the album; loved staring into the cover art.

  3. Randall,

Winthrop is now 1-6 in NCAA tournament appearances. I think they beat Notre Dame once as their only win.

Should I be sober to look at that album cover?
